Headrest speakers.....
Discussion
My MX-5 has headrest speakers fitted, but they seem to 'cackle' quite badly. This obviously gets worse the more you increase the volume. The do give some sound out, but it rubbsih.
Question is, are these generally pretty poor anyway, or does it sound like I need new speakers? (Don't want to fork out on new headrest speakers if its not going to improve..!)
MX-5 parts list some JVC headrest speakers, £17.95 for the pair, would this do 1 seat, or both?
Any help as always is appreciated!
P.S Went out for my first proper blast today, these cars are great!!

MX5 parts does just one seat. I've always wondered how happy your average stereo is at driving two pairs on one output (assuming you keep the door speakers) they'll be 4 ohms each and parallelled will give the stereo a 2 ohm load. Or I guess add some 4 ohm resistors...
Anyway, what will have happened is the foam suspension ring around the paper cones will have rotted, it's amazing they work at all with this completely gone (well to produce vaguely intelligible sound). So if you repalced them they would be better, but I guess you'll need someone who's got replacement JVC's or something to comment on how good they work.
