The bucket needs a new hood as the current one is split but we're having trouble deciding what to do.

Do we bag one off eBay and fit it myself/with my dad

OR

Get a cloth one fitted

OR

Get a vinyl one fitted - as existing.

I'm not overly happy with vinyl but unsure about having a cloth one fitted to a Mk.1 - has anyone done this?

I live in the North West and can't afford the time to take the car to that bloke in Swansea for a a new one.

Any help?

Bite the bullit and get a cloth one fitted. They're so much easier to put up and down.

Just buy some Auto-Glym roof care kit and give it the once over occaisionally.

EH?

How does roof material make a difference in being able to put it up or down??

Vinyl shrinks when it's cold. Therefore is harder to put up as it needs to be gently stretched to avoid tearing.

Cloth doesn't do that.

Love to but I'm going to go for canvas. Never had one before while my other vinyl hoods haven't been great.

But thank you anyway.
