My (Mk2.5) speedo is playing up this morning, dropped from 60 to 0 and stayed there, then went back up, and dropped again.

Booked it into Mazda Cov this afternoon for a quick look, but anyone any ideas pelase?

Spoken to Sam Goodwin, who says they are electric not cable, and won't be an easy thing to fix....... So pleased I have a warranty!

I can't help, but I have observed you don't have a great deal of luck with cars, do you?

Probably whatever sensor that sends the speed signal is on the blink.

There is a sensor at the back of the Mk2.5 gearbox which is the pickup for the speedo. Just check that the connector hasn't pulled apart. This happened on mine once and the speedo died and the engine management light came on.

Took me 2 mins to find and do it back up.

If it hasn't died completely it could just be that the connector is a bit fked.

Mazda electronics prices are a total joke. For a Mk1, for the idle valve, they want half the value of the car....

Tell me about it hehe

I'll not be using them, but it was good to get the costing and diagnosis from them - quickly! biggrin

If it's covered on your warranty it won't matter to you but you can get a complete replacement gearbox for less than that eek

1/4 Scottish? How the hell does that work? I'm not sure that's anatomically possible.

Why don't you just do what I do and admit you're a tight-arse?! biggrin
