Now getting cold and wet, my plastic rear window is misting up all the time. This results in all but zero visibility when it gets dark and me having to reverse with only my mirrors or my head out the window. I've used rain-x anti fog on the front and side windows, which works very well. However it specifically states not to use it on plastic. So, any solutions? Cheers!

Interesting... how expensive/complicated is it to do this?

I went to a camping shop and bought one of those dehumidifier things for a fiver. You know, it's like a stuffed sock and absorbs all the moisture in the car. It's sat behind the drivers seat and I never have a problem with moisture.

Here it is, from ebay:

Jack Smith Trimmers in Swansea do replacement hoods and has very good reviews (and very reasonably priced too). He can put a new hood on and take the glass out of your existing one and use that, which suggests that you can just replace the plastic with glass. He may be able to help if you found a scrap MX5 to pilfer the glass from (I think P5 have a smashed up mk2.5, don't know what the hood is like though).

Actually, since the Mk1 and Mk2 hoods are different it might not be so easy to do. It might be easier just getting a new hood with a glass screen.

The silica gel bags are a good idea though. An ex boyfriend of mine used to have a MR2, and it suffered the same misting up. His brother worked in a packaging factory and he used to get him big bags of silica gel, which he then put under the car seat. Worked a treat.
