Broken Rear Window...
Discussion
...being a bit of a daft sod I managed to make a 1'' split in the rear window putting a bag on the shelf.
I've taped it up and no water has come in yet, but any tips for repairs?
I was thinking that I could possibly use a clear patch from a tent repair pack or similar?
Bit pissed off over it but one of those things and my fault. I'm not going to buy a new hood or window for her yet, because some cretin could come and knife the hood anyway.
I might consider it in a few months, but a short term repair will do for now.
Any tips?

Yep you can.
Original hoods you can buy the window and surround and zip it in (but you have to unbolt the rear of the hood)
Aftermarket ones you can take to a trimmer and they charge around £50 PLUS removal / refitting the hood.
As new hoods are available from £150ish on Ebay its not really viable these days.

I'm sure this si the sort of thing my Mum would have repaired using the heavy duty Selotape (seriously) and it would probably last years. I think you can get it in Halfords?
That's what I'll try then.I taped it up both sides yesterday (before it rained) and it didnt let a drop in. I'm just after something that looks a bit neater than the layers of thin sellotape I've used!

Where abouts are you located, I know somewhere you can get just the rear window replaced in Hertfordshire....
As luck would have it - Hertford.Details would be great please.
ETA: if it's http://www.hoodsandtrims.co.uk/ then I would be inclined to pick a cheap top off ebay and spend a day fitting it myself - at those prices it's a little bit too dear for the scotsman in me!
