I am interested in a 91 mx-5 currently on autotrader, the seller assures me its a uk car, but it has power steering, is this correct on a 91 uk car, or is it likely that its an import?? Any advice would be gratefuly received. Many thanks

mine does - i would actually think most do - the 5 was designed to have p/s from the outset as far as i know - the manual rack was brought in later.

The UK cars didn't have power steering as standard at that age. Although there may have been a few produced? If your worried about import/uk car there are plenty of other ways to tell - see www.mx5oc.co.uk

I thought Standard UK pre-93 cars had pretty much the same standard spec as Jap market cars apart from the Viscous LSD.
Extras such as AC were actually options in Japan but an option that the vast majority of buyers went for - a wise choice with their climate, unlike in UK where very few buyers ticked the AC option box.
