Hi - probably not the correct place to ask but her goes - I've seen variuos RX8's for sale - about 05 reg. they seem a lot a car for the money - why? are they unreliable or just generally expensive to maintain ? is it that the rotary engine is still a bit of a mystery to most garages ?
Cheers
Steve

Probably because they use quite a bit of fuel and are in the highest tax band. That is all it takes these days for a cars value to drop like a stone.

They're a bargain if you can afford the running costs though I guess...

25mpg at very best, plus lots of tax and and engine that takes some getting used to.

Seems they are reliable (200k+ cars in the US), but not for lots of short distances.

I looked at them, great VFM.

It has really kicked the arse out of the prices. People seem pretty irrational about it all. Someone will happily pay 3 or 4 k more for a diesel because it has better fuel economy that might save themselves 500 a year on fuel. Equally, they'll turn down the '8 despite it being a bloody good car because it will cost them a few hundred quid extra per year in fuel and tax. Odd...

The RX-8 is a lovely, lovely car. It looks great on both the exterior and interior, while being dead quick. I was in one that went sideways off a roundabout once, quick grab and we were on our way again so very controllable.

The leather bucket-style seats are great, as is the piano black dash and digital speedo (the best one I've seen).

If I wasn't scared by the rumoured costs of keeping the engine running I'd have one in a snap.

If you can afford it, I'd encourage one of these bad boys.
