It's renewal time again, need to insure it as a everyday car but the price seems to have jumped up a lot from last year, I'm 30 living in London, had a recent claim but the price is still looking to be around £440 for TPFT, I only paid £470 for the Tuscan S fully comp.

And ideas who to try?

A-Plan
Adrian Flux
Possibly Footman James

and AON do/used to do the MX5 Owners Club policy.

edit: Oh and I paid £480 fully comp last year 29 with 1 claim a few years ago (Adrian Flux). So it's not wildly expensive.

Is it an import - you get mugged for one! (I do!)

Could try A-One insurance in Dorset.

I'm with Adrian Flux, was 21 when I got my insurance, 4 years no claims, £760 fully comp on my import 1.8 mk1. No one else would go near for under £1000. That includes breakdown and 90 days euro cover as well if i remember correctly.

I pay less than that for my highly modified 230bhp Mk2.5 fully comp with AON on the OC scheme! I guess being 41 helps but I do remember my insurance getting a good wedge cheaper when I hit 30 and haven't noticed any drops since then...

I'm 24 and the insurance on my Mk1 is circa £600.

Annoyingly, or luckily depending on how I view it, the insurance on my Porsche is only £15 more!

Thought I'd update this as my renewal quotes have come through the door.

Now as I said previously I'm with Adrian Flux. Last year they wanted £480.

AA:£1000.xx
LV/Frizzel with CSMA discount. £2381.18 yikes

Adrian Flux. £414.00

Ok thats before I phone around. But why do insurance companies you're not with, post out such unrealistic quotes. I mean who in their right mind would pay £2381 when they can get quotes around 80% cheaper....

I'll give Adrian Flux a call as had my Griffith insured with them when I had my accident, they dealt with it very quickly and I had my cheque in my hand within a few weeks. But after that big claim they asked for £5000 for the Tuscan, so guessing I still might not be in their good books.

Well A Flux just came in at £330 with protected NCD so is a decent enough deal, looks like I'll be going back to them.

Looks good to me. I'll bet it's with NIG as the insurer...?

I paid up today. If i wanted protected NCD it was going to be an extra £250ish pounds with a different company.... I left it. smile Next year apparently.

I'll be changing to Admiral in a few weeks. I'm currently paying Elephant £500, with a yrs no claims and a £300 excess.

Admiral have offered me (23 years old 2 yrs no claims)comp with a £150 excess - for £350!

That I did not know. The left arm obviously doesn't know what the right arm is doing!

I always phone round every year, although it's now only a select few, what with points/claims/mods to declare.

Initially I was with Aon via the MX5 Owners Club, I then moved to A-Plan the year after. The following year Adrian Flux beat A-Plan, but they matched it so I stayed with them. This year, after ringing both for quotes I decided to give Sky Insurance a go. They advertised on MX5 Nutz, I gave them a call and they beat both AF (only just) and AP, and because it wasn't much of a saving they then knocked the price down by another £50. Sold.

Here's the thread on Nutz with the contact details.
