Just sold my 944S2 cabriolet and looking for a top conditioned 1.8 MX5
I spotted Dandy Cars on the web, but their prices for quite high mileage imported cars seems too high.
Has anyone bought from them and if so what makes the Jap imports so
special as to warrant higher prices.
As this will be my daily driver it has to be mint
Thanks
Steady

They are absolutely top dollar, but I believe they are prepped pretty well and they offer a warranty of course.

You will never get your money back on a car bought from them though as it will depreciate minimum 2k back to market value as soon as you drive it off the forecourt.

Imo.

I got that impression too - I was browsing the website and thought they were all incredibly overpriced. Yep you get a warranty and the comeback of buying from a dealer (?) but still, far too much money IMHO.

I had a private seller tell me the other day that his car was worth what he was asking because of the price of similar ones on Dandycars website. If only it worked that way. Needless to say I walked away from that one.

These guys are worth looking at:

http://supercarclassics.com/

I bought mine from them a couple of years ago when they stocked only MX-5s, although they seem to have branched out a bit now but still hold a large MX-5 stock.

The S-Special and 10AE look good value on there. Providing they stand up to close inspection.

Just noticed a question in your original post. Jap imports aren't necessarily more expensive but by and large they have a better spec than UK cars. They'll all have A/C for a start, and lots of the special editions have uprated suspension, wheels and other bits and bobs.

Personally I think the 10AE is priced a tad on the high side (and it's missing its mats).

Hmm...

They also buy cars here and add huge sums then resell them.

I'm sure they are nice cars but no nicer than loads of others out there and overpriced by some margin.

My point exactly. They may be nice quality but I'm not convinced it's impossible to get the same from elsewhere for less.
