MK1 RS Limited Wanted - Anyone know of one?
Discussion
Hi All,
Hopefully this will be the first of many posts in the MX5/Eunos section, I am in the market for MX5 ownership and I have decided that the Mk1 RS Ltd is the one for me. However, I understand that these are quite rare having made only 500 of them.
I have recently sold my 172 and have cash waiting. I really liked the look of this one but unfortunately it sold before I could get down and view the car. My budget is £3k max which I think is a fair price.

Can anyone let me know if any come up? I've seen the one on PH from Peterborough Imports but it looks a bit tatty and is overpriced, the seats are ripped and the aftermarket wheels and steering wheel are a big no no for me.
I have also been looking at R Ltd Editions - can someone explain what the difference is and whether they are any good? I think the red leather is putting me off slightly - do they all come with that?
Cheers
Iain

Hi, the R-Limited came in blue or white but both had the red interior.
This is handy for working out which Eunos limited edition is which.
As for an RS-Ltd, there's this one on here. It's more than your budget but comes with a hard top, which could be sold on to recoup some of the overspend.
If not, you might want to keep an eye on MX5nutz as well the usual car sales sites. Not sure if there are any on there at the moment but they do appear fairly regularly.

I think I'm set on the RS as it seems to have most of the things that I'd end up getting anyway (diff, BBS wheels and - well, seats!). Plus I would imagine that it would hold it's value better than standard models.
I'd probably say it's the ultimate spec MK1 - and I really don't like the MK2 shape, so the budget I have I'd like to get one of the best MK1's I can.

Looks cheap and you'll have spare cash for a set of Elise seats (probax)

Cheers - I looked at that one, I really can't be doing with the red everywhereLooks cheap and you'll have spare cash for a set of Elise seats (probax)
Since it was first launched there have been 2 special/limited editions a year every hear of it's life right from the earliest Mk1s through to the latest Mk3s so don't fall into the trap of thinking that a special/limited edition will hold it's value any better - there are loads of them!
As far as I can see the RS is only worth a premium if it has the original seats, the rest of the spec is available elsewhere (and you would probably want to change the shocks & springs anyway - RS suspension is too hard for UK roads unless you don't have a back-bone).

Yep - 89k RS Ltd imported 2002 - £3k
Only downside is it's missing the Recaros - apparently they were nicked upon import into the UK. Bilstein's, BBS, Bodykit etc all intact and complete. I'll get some pics up soon. Going to book her into WIM for a full alignment, feels a bit weird at high speed.
