^^

Is what I'm intending to do. I may have stepped over the line of 'no advertising' on the forums but wondered if anyone is interested in such a swap?

Here's mine

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/588644.htm

Failing that, I'll be moving into Mk1 territory if I can sell my Clio, I've been after one for a while. I reckon I'm looking to spend £2k ish on a Mk1, and use the rest to fund a new GTI6 engine for my track car. I can't wait to experience reliable, fun, RWD cheap motoring!

So, long shot I know, but anyone interested?

I thought it was based on the early Opel Vectra - or is that the same thing as a Vauxhall Cavalier?

Well - chav insults aside, the 172 was sold today biggrin

Time to go MX5 hunting - I've got my eye on a Mk1 RS Limited, hopefully viewing it Tuesday. Any advice on what to look out for with it being a special edition?

It still has the seats, wheels, LSD etc. Anything I should be aware of?

Cheers

Iain

Have a look for a sticker in the door shut, if there it will have lots of info on the model/spec/options.

Check for rust in the sills. The tappets will tick for the first 5-10 secs. Any longer than that and you may need new HLAs. Use hood condition as a bargaining tool, although a decent one can be had for 250 quid.
