Changing the fuel filter

I've done the miata forum links to death - but i'm dammed if i can figure this out. How the hell do i get the cover off that covers the fuel filter? I've taken all the plastic clips out i can find, but can't find the filter and lines under the passenger side rear at all!!
I'm normally fairly adept mechanically, i've done many a oil and filter change but how to get to this one has got me foxed. I must admit, i'm a little scared of brute force and ignorance as it's Mrs Eltax's car and i don't wanna break it!!
it's a yr 2000 mk2 by the way!!
