Mk2 Centre console removal

Hi all.
Me and the missus took the plunge over the weekend and bought a Mk2 Mx-5.
The only thing that is niggling at me at the moment is the wooden centre console and gear lever surround (its got a wooden gear knob and handbrake sleeve but replacements have already been purchased off of ebay!).
I had a quick look and it seems the gear lever surround clips into place, is it the same for the centre console?
Im looking to replace these items with just standard black ones, but mx5 parts dont seem to list any? Does anybody know of anywhere else that may sell them?
If not, as its just plastic I may have a good at using some plastic effect paint, Im pretty handy at things like this so would be confident I could get a good finish.
Still havent driven the car yet, as we are waiting for the insurance docs to turn up to tax it! Hopefully they'll come today!
