Advice needed - Mazda used

I'll try and keep this brief...

I want a used MX-5 Mk3, from a Mazda dealer. I've found the spec I want - a July 06 plate with leather and climate control at a localish dealer. Slightly high mileage (29k) Dealer says it will be covered under ZZ+ so full year warranty, etc.

Coming to do the final details - I had been assured that it had a full dealer service history (supplied and serviced by same dealer) from the first conversation - so I asked for a copy of the Digital Service Record to confirm history.

(http://www.mazda.co.uk/Owning/AfterSalesService/DigitalServiceRecords/) - seems to be a definitive process?

It has the first electronic stamp for 50 mile/on the road check, and one at about 24800 (which is right for the second service with a 12500 interval) - but is missing the 12500 check on the record. The dealer has said that they can get a copy of the work done, and provide me with a printout of the service IF they did it. If they didn't then his approach was "not our problem"

So the questions are:

1) if they can find invoice of work performed for 12500 service , will the gap on the Digital Service Records be fixable retrospectively?

2) does anyone know why a digital service record might not have been entered - and would it effect the warranty with Mazda UK if the record isn't complete?

3) With a gap (or even a retrospective fix) might this cause problems in reselling in having to explain the gap/correction?

Thoughts?

Many thanks
Lewis

How long did it take you to find it? If you've been struggling to find what you want, then it might be worth a punt, but there should be plenty of others out there at that age with a complete history. Although it might not put you (or me actually) off, I suspect there are plenty of people who would be nervous about a car with "sketchy" history.

Welcome to PH by the way smile

Thanks - I've been a lurker on the forums and Pistonheads for some time... generally seen good advice here :-)
