Ok, I used to pop out in the evenings just for the sake of it when I had my MX5. Now I don't. Cant be bothered.
That's called "having fun". Got to be better than watching Big Brother!

I loved my MX5 but during winter the misting inside etc wound me up a bit on my cold-morning commute.
Get one with AC. The misting disappears very fast then. Alternatively, get the top down!

I couldn't get my mountain bike AND girlfriend in for a trip away.
You can get a rack for the bike. Saris bones is about the best.

Why should I buy another (it would be my THIRD).
Because you want to!

Why? Tell me your pro's and con's of owning a MX5.
I've made loads of friends through the various MX-5 clubs/forums I'm a member of, all with similar interests to me (or at least one similar interest).
Driving is fun - when you are driving a fun car. It's boring when driving a boring car. Have more fun.
I take mine on the track. It's amazing how many people aren't aware of just how good an MX-5 is on the track!
It's given me a whole new interest/hobby! Driving, modifying, talking about, looking at, showing off MX-5s. Better than train-spotting.

I had the Saris on. I found that I had to remove the front wheel as strapping the bars didnt stop the front wheel from rubbing against the bumper (read clanging) when I went round corners fast. Ended up with both wheels on the passenger seat.

I was thinking of a towbar fitted with towbar-mounted rack...
Can't you adjust the Saris so the bike is further away from the car? I haven't got one myself so I don't know.
Personally I have 2 cars - the MX-5 which sucks all of my money and a Focus which is my boring load lugger.

thought you were getting a motorbike for the fun times Hora?

with regard putting the bike on the back - i dunno about the specific rack type... or your current mtb, but couldnt you tie the front wheel back to the downtube to stop it turning?

as for antifogging/demisting - try the antifog soloutions like you can buy for keeping bike visors clear.

Hora - I've still not bought one, although I've been chapping on about it on Pistonheads for about 2 years.

But WHEN I get my MX5, I will be buying a towbar and an Aiston 2 bike rack. Theres no need for the actual towball bit to stick out behind the car so it shouldnt even look very conspicuous when not in use.

I know, I know. The problem for me is the actual act of changing.

I can afford to buy one, based on the value I've got in my current car. But I can buy one UNTIL I sell my current car, and I cant sell my current car beacuse then I wont be able to get to work and find myself a Roadster. Its very, very frustrating.
