Hi all, have been lurking here for a while and finally bought one - Mk 1 1.8 J-import..........like everybody said, fab drive and so much fun.........now am on the slippery slope like everyone here - thinking about how i can improve the car.......
someone mentioned LSD, saw one from a RS on e-bay, since i odn;t do tracking, was wondering what it does on a daily (but fastish) drive.........also a mate talked about having new coilover........any idea which one you guys could recommend.........
and of course, is rear struct brace worthwhile? My car already has a upper front brace.........
now just started having beans on toast to save the money needed!
cheers

Hi Mike. Enjoy it!
I wouldn't bother with a diff if you're just going to drive on the road mostly. I'm a huge fan of the Torsen diffs fitted and reckon it's one of the optional extras that makes the car, but even I'd recommend not ploughing shed loads into a diff just for road driving.
Probably best thing you can do is get the alignment done by someone who knows what they're doing.

Hi Mike,
MX5s are great I had one for years until a van driver wrote it off. I've got a celica at the moment and am looking at getting hold of another 5. If you want to improve the performance of your 5 on a budget the first couple of things i'd do is:
get an arc air chaimber - you see them on fleabay from time to time and they are great make loads of different throughout the range
if its not already get it lowered on some adjustable shocks - i had some great mazdaspeed ones but there pretty expensive but made the handeling even better
decent air fliter too - arc also do one of these
get a de-cat pipe and full stainless system - i got a second hand one of them too - the decat pipe made no end of difference.
good luck
Rich
