creaking noise when slowly turning

When I slow right down (i.e., almost to stop) and turn the steering wheel, there is a strange "creaking" noise coming from (I think) the front. It only happens when going forward and I cannot feel anything through the steering wheel or brake pedal. Any ideas what this might be?

Bushes possibly?

I had a similar noise. Turned out I had no power steering fluid in the reservoir. If you don't have power steering it'll probably be worth checking the bushes.
