I'm repairing a tatty roadster and I really want to ditch the aircon as a)it's heavy, b)the rad sits right in front of the normal rad, for track use I'd rather not have it and c)I *HATE* that taste you get in the air from aircon - I always open the window or put the roof down anyway.

So, rather than cracking a joint and letting it vent, is there a sensible way to drain an aircon system before removal. The car is a non-runner at the moment.

For the sake of £20 or so, call a local mobile air-con company and they'll pop out and vacuum the lot out for you.
