The tan leather driver seat in my 92 eunos is now very much showing its age, so i've been looking for a replacement but they all have the same wear characteristics

BUT the passenger seats are always mint (no-one sharing the experience out there?)

so wondering how much faff is involved in swapping the nice bits over.... its just occurred to me so i haven't looked for myself and its raining so ......

Are they not left right specific?

Not to sure it would work, there are a few places that sell replacement leather seat covers though.. in pairs..

I think the backs are angled slightly and the left side of the drivers seat is a slightly different shape to make gear-changes easier.
You might be able to swap left-right but I'm not sure it will be comfortable if it fits at all.

Could you not buy a seat from a left hand drive MX-5?

If you found one in Northern France it would make a nice weekend drive. Bomb over there, bolt in the new seat, dump the old one, drink some wine, eat some snails, rest, bomb back.

It'd be easier to get it re-trimmed.

Go to your local farmer's market, buy a cow, couple of minutes with a machete, have a beer, get some hair dye from the missus that's more or less tan colour, bob the whole lot in the bath for a few hours, put the remains of the cow on the barbie, have another beer, stand back, admire handy-work beer

Job done.

France indeed rolleyes

I'll admit I'm beaten there, far more beef in your master plan!

I wasn't entirely joking about the France option though, you could even do it in a day if you were desperate. That is if LHD '5s are easy enough to come by in France.

Although, I am the person that was all set to drive down to Munich to pick up a wing mirror I was having trouble finding had the vendor not sold it just before I set off.

Yes, I know we've come beyond the days of the carrier pigeon when it comes to postage but I just like a good drive!

Neither was I about getting it re-trimmed. It is possible to get it done quire reasonably.

The beer comments can stay, too.

Driver and passenger seats won't swap straight over. The runners on the drivers side are further apart than on the passenger side. I have no idea why that might be - maybe just to stop the seats getting swapped over...

I'm planning to have my red leather seats retrimmed at some point in the next 12 months. Have been quoted £350 by Jack Smith, which I think is pretty reasonable for effectively new seats!
