New thermostat arrived today, with gasket and some blue silicone sealant...

Unscrewed the two bolts that hold the thermostat in place and broke off the connector on the top... oops..

Now I need a replacement....

Its the bit circled, it screws into the top of the housing then a connector clips onto the top of it..

broken...

I've briefly looked through mx5parts but don't know what I'm looking for...

Also will it cause alot of damage if I drive the car without it for a while?

Oops!

Coolant temperature sensor. Without it your cooling fan won't run. ECU will also think that the car is running cold so will probably run rich all the time.
I's say no, don't drive without it. However, I've been wrong beforewink

I'm just off junction 8/9 of the M4...

I was quite impressed with the RX7's they had there, I decided its definately going to be my next car!!

My sis lives in reading and i've friends in Basingstoke so I'm around that way often..

Where are you based?

I'm in Finchampstead, just south of Wokingham and I work in Kingsclere, half-way between Basingstoke & Newbury.
Your profile says South East so I assumed Kent/Sussex area.

If you need someone to take a look at your car I can probably have a look, otherwise I'm sure I could organise a local "Tech Day" with Cobham Commoners (PlanetMX5).

Lazza that would be brilliant, everyone that has checked it over so far has never driven or worked on one so your input would be appreciated!!!
