Decided to do a few jobs on the mx-5 as i have the week off, having just returned from the Nurburgring..brilliant place!!!!

Any hints tips for replacing the valve cover gasket? it looks a relatively straight forward job, but is there anything I should look out for????

It's a pretty easy job - just remember to add a dab of sealant in the corners of the 'humps' for the cam pulleys and the CAS, and don't over-tighten the bolts when you put it back together.

Following my servicing thread where Lazza and Kinky are encourageing me to do some of the stuff myself this is one of the things I'm tempted to do myself. I've done Citroen one before, and I dont remember there being too much you can do wrong so I might as well have a stab at it.

personally i'd do the cas oil seal too at the same time as you often get oil leaks from here too - just mark it up where it is before you remove the cas otherwise you'll have to get your timing gun out to set it again.

Just been out for a drive, first time since fitting the new gasket and the "real" oil pressure is gauge is showing higher pressure all round, nothing too extreme but all together healthier than before??? is this normal?
