Leccy window woes

Right, the pass window has never worked since I have owned the car, its way down the list of priorities but now the drivers side has packed up too. Anything obvious to check on these things? I've taken the door card off but to be honest I'm just staring at it with my hands on my hips and no clue......

Check out the switch in the center console. The contacts can corrode and either give them a scrub up or replace them. Other thing to do is greese the runners so the window is easier to move. Of course if it was slow and working hard with no lubrication, you may have broken the cables that move the window.

All the above is what I have read, and luckily I've yet to have to do anything but grease up the windows.

With the door card off, I'd start with a test lamp on the regulator to see if you have power there. You can work your way back to the fuse / relay via the switch whatever the result.

If the mech is jammed, try tapping the motor (lightly with a hammer) while depressing the switch.

Cables definately broken on the drivers side, how much of a mission is this going to be to repair? Motor still makes a noise on drivers side, but luckily I can pull the window up and down without too much effort. Pass side however, no noise from the motor at all.....

Cable broken - repair kits are available but the whole assembly needs to come out to do the job. Not the hardest job in the world. Main dealer may try and sell you a new assy with a motor, sounds like you may even need a motor for the other side...

You can buy the cables from MX5 Parts for £20 IIRC.

But I just use bike gear cables and put a screw connector on the other end, works fine, costs about £1.

Hi, just done a wind up window replacement for my eunos. Cable had gone but got full replacement on ebay for £20 elctric ones are normally about £40-£60.
Doing the job is fairly easy took me ages to figure it out though. I used Rod's MX5 manual, brilliant. £10 again ebay. let me know If you need any help. Well worth doin yourself rather than a garage.
