My insurance is up for renewal end of this month, the current chimps , messed it up 3 times hence it ends in may even though ive had the car sincebeginning of march last year ,
right im a 33yo chap ,no points and 1 claim after a silly bint drove into my rear qaurter ,
just got the renewal letter they want £372 for a year ,
now ok i got shafted for my ncb's , i had full on my bike poicy but they could only swap that for 1 year car policy which ws a rip i think so i now only have 2 years , for tpf&t best quote is £250 and fully comp £313 , thats done though confused ,

Anyone know any other places i can try ???

Denny,

Best for me are usually Tescos, Esure or Privilege. But that said Esure and Privilege used to require a minmum of 4 years NCB, but I don't know if thats changed. No harm in trying them anyway.

I'm currently £202, fully comp, for business use, unlimited mileage, other half as named driver, parked on driveway, etc, etc, etc.

[monty python]Oh what I wouldn't give to pay £372!!! You lucky...lucky...lcuky...[/monty python]

biggrin Try Direct Line. Both of my cars are with Direct Line and they give the policyholder unrestricted use (bar mileage restrictions, naturally) and they are very good at the old customer PR thing....even when I was bking them for admitedly not much at all! paperbag

Mine is £380 through the OC AON scheme. I think that's pretty good for fully comp on a heavily modified 226bhp car biggrin
40yo, full ncb, car garaged overnight, every mod declared down to the hand-brake release button (I send them a word doc listing every mod).

Hmmm... I usually insure with direct line - my last MX5 used to cost me around £500 a year from them. The new one is registered as an import and I declared the modified Air Intake - Directline quoted me something like £1000. So I thought I would ring around, starting off renewing my owners club membership and calling AON - their quote was £260ish (limited mileage policy), I started to say thank you, I will call back after ringing for a few other quotes, but after hearing that price, it was a case of 'what the hell - that's a great price'. Looking other prices here, I am wondering if I could have got a better price.

I'm with A-Plan - they were cheap last year but this year my renewal was not only more than last year but fairly expensive full stop!

I was going to leave them but then they sweetened the deal by doing an exceptional (and I mean exceptional) deal on my Porsche insurance if I stuck with them on the MX-5 so I stayed.

I'm 23, living in a city centre but car is garaged...

Admiral are coming out as £300.80 per year with my mother as an additional driver, protected no claims (5 years), 4k miles per year, SDP use only. £450 excess.

I've had a quote from the Flux for £639 if the car is fitted with an MP62 Supercharger rated at about 200bhp and fully adjustable dampers with lowering springs. Same excess as above, driving other cars but no protected NCB.

Some people here have got some good quotes redface

Mine was £380 odd, any driver over 25, any use except hire or reward.

Funny thing is for a newer 10th anniversary model, it was £650 odd, the import was less money, I don't think they're bothered about mods either.

The worst bit is, i've got my IAM too. paperbag

I spent so long on the telephone and the internet, that I just gave up in the end. I should mention though, that I passed my test when I was nearly 20 and only had 1 years NCB on my Ford Ka, although I had been named driver (wink) on 2 other MX-5s and a Triumph TR5.

Bought an mx5 (Eunos) on saturday, and most places were quoting >£700 for me at 35, keeping it on the drive (when not driving it!) as a second car. Stupidly I bought the car before sorting the insurance.

Getting desperate, I did a search on PH and found Aon insurance, and their quote came in at £200 fully comp - couldn't believe it!!!! Plus I live in a pretty cr@ppy area of Birmingham! I bit his arm off....
