A hard days work....
Discussion
Had a day off yesterday so my fiancee and I spent some time working on the car.
Perhaps we should start with a picture that kick started all this work:
A little bit of snow damage!
The car came back from the bodyshop debadged and with the front plinth removed. A couple of weekends ago I fitted a Renault Laguna front splitter:
So to yesterdays work...
Before the work started:
Getting started:
Lower part of the bodywork repainted with hammerite:
The main bit of work completed today was painting the wheels:
Also detango'd the front and fitted new clear side indicators.
Today's jobs are to give the car a service and change front brakes and finish washing/waxing it. Oh yeah and replace the side light that went yesterday afternoon.
Cheers,
Phill

Looks bloody good Phil, loving the black wheels!
I think one of your next jobs should be to replace the pea-shooter exhaust though...
Struggling to change the brakes today! Got two bolts stuck on the drivers side caliper bracket... just can't seem to get enough leverage to get them off! I think one of your next jobs should be to replace the pea-shooter exhaust though...
Going to have to nip out for a longer bar i think.
Plan is for a dual exit exhuast when this one gives up the ghost (hopefully not too much longer!)

I'd also respray the sills white, as it would make the car look lower to the ground.
Good work though, wish I could get mine that shiny...
Still not 100% happy with the paint work... going to give it another going over tomorrow (the pics look better than it does in real life).Good work though, wish I could get mine that shiny...
Managed to get the brakes sorted in the end but didn't get around do giving it an oil change so that's tomorrow's job!

Looks great, Phil
I don't suppose you could do us a step by step of wheel painting, could you?
Thinking of doing mine green...
Sure can mate...I don't suppose you could do us a step by step of wheel painting, could you?
Thinking of doing mine green...
Step 1 - Remove the wheels and give them a damn good clean (I used fairy liquid to start with).
Step 2 - Give the wheels a rub down with some wet and dry (keeping the paper wet with the water and fairy liquid).
Step 3 - Let the wheels dry out in the sun. (I prop'd them up at a angle so that the water doesn't get stuck between the rim and the tyre.
Step 4 - Primer the wheels (i used halfords own brand). We couldn't get masking tape and newspaper to stick to the tyre so I used a piece of cardboard (tucked it in between the rim and the tyre) and sprayed sections at a time and allow to dry.
- If you need to take the tyres off (say for new wheels) I would do so as a couple of sections around the rim haven't come up perfectly.
Step 6 - Two coats of halfords laquer
Step 7 - Once dry refit to the car, step back and admire your handy work
