How come no rear diff? I thought they were all rear wheel drive?
It can go off and should be done every 2 years really.
If youre going the whole hog then worth getting it done if the blokes under your car anyway.
Just a thought,
Neil
they are all RWD- I was talking about the limited slip differential. It can go off and should be done every 2 years really.

I am ashamed to know nothing about diffs in any way!
Oh OK, I know it doesnt have a limited slip diff (we have the same car...Monza) but it does have one which contains oil.
This is changed every major service (dont know what the milage would be) but it would seem to meet your thorough check list.
The coolant is what should be changed every 2 years.

did you buy it all already?
if you want to use redline then go for MT-90 instead of MTL. you might as well do the diff oil whilst you're at it too - redline 75W-90 (actually this is probably fine in the box too - the box is good in that it can take a GL5 diff oil)
and for the price difference i'd spend a little more and get decent oil and brake pads (genuine mazda will be better than EBC kevlars / blackstuff)

thanks guys. I havn't brought any of it yet - but I have to say that i've got the kevlar pads on the rear, and have been very impressed with them over the last 8k.
They are also quite a bit cheaper than the others, and not a lot more expensive than the budget ones on MX5 parts, and they dont dust up and leave a load of cack over the alloys..
It gripes a bit having to pay for a new fitting kit though- whats the opinion on re using the shims, or should I get new ones?
We normally put a bit of grease on the outside of the pads to stop squeal, which normally works..

I normally go to DOT5 on brake fluid. Never had a problem on the little Mazda in thebraking department, but figure it's worth doing. Will normally mix with the 3's and 4's without trouble too (read the bottle if you get it)
you mean DOT5.1 - DOT5 is silicon based and will *not* mix with anythng else.pp - re-use the old shims and springs, no probs.
