OK, well my dad is selling his Cappo on account of my mum not being able to get in it (MS sufferer) and is on the lookout for another MX-5. He previousl had a UK Mk.1 1.8 which he liked but suffered from rusty sills. (Nothing to the rust problems on Cappos though yikes)

Anyway, he has around 5k to spend I think and is after a Mk.2. A quick look in the classifieds shows that he should be able to get a 99/00 1.8iS for that - is that a Mk.2 or a Mk.2.5? What's the difference?

My other question is would he be able to get a mildly supercharged Mk.2 for his money?

I beleive some guy on here was selling a 'charged 5 in red for around that money - looked absolutely mint. If its still for sale it'll be in the 'fieds

There's also a 228bhp turbo'd Mk1 1.6 at 4500, looks nice if you change the red wheels.

The linked ad was mine, its sold but I can't withdraw the ad (have now contacted the mods)

BUT - it was sold without the SC so if you buy a cheap Mk2 I'd happily fit my SC to it for £1250 or £1100 if you want to fit it yourself.

That's a shame, sounds like you're round the corner from my dad! wink

BTW, would the s/c fit a Mk.1 1.8?

Yes, that's what I would do (well actually I would look at a TVR S wink but it;s for my dad, he wants something a bit more comfortable so that my mum'll have an easier time in it smile

Too much hassle to be worthwhile.

Is the Mk.1 very different from the Mk.2? (enginewise)

The head is.

The SC parts that don't fit are the outlet (too high) and the idle control valve (different shape)
