Hello all,
I have just fitted a new boot rack and its a bit heavy for the boot spring, I now have
to prop boot up with a lump of wood! could anybody tell me please what the usual procedure is for
this problem? Thanks very much in advance, Cliff.

I don't know if it would be enough but it is possible to adjust the spring add a bit of strength to it. Do a search on MX-OC forum or even better on Miata.net.

You can adjust the spring , mine wont spring up with the toastrack on but will self support when its open , with the rack off you can remotely opertate the boot release and the thing flips open , great for scareing grannies or opening the boot when you have a shedload of shopping that you know is going to have to go in the cabin .....

Any way of getting at the spring? Mine creaks like an 80 year old's hip but I can't reach it with WD40 frown

Funny...I did mine today.

Wasn't the spring though (don't think). If this makes sense....between the two hinges there is a bar running the length of the junction between the rear of the bootlid and the main body/hood. Oiled the supports for this bar and no more adams family spooky groan when I open the boot.

If you look at where the bars are between the hinges you can adjust the tension by moving them into another ridge , i think it mentions it in the idiot guide that come with the car
