ooh ooh i'm so excited, pretty soon this little beauty will be mine

Slightly premature post, but i've been on about getting an MX5 for ages now, and now my friends are moving to New Zealand so i get first dibs on their car. 1.8, and they're going to part ex for my old golf because they need a run-around until they go. It couldn't have worked out better.
Already going through the MX5parts book to see what goodies i can add!

Probably over the next few weeks, on the next sunny weekend as it's up in st andrews. I can't wait for a topless hoon down the M6 Whoop!! How much is this car worth, i think i'm getting a pretty good deal on it. She is going to sell it to me for around 1500. As i'm part ex-ing my golf, i'll get it for around 900/1000. After a bit of research, i think this is a pretty good buy.

N plate UK spec 1.8 for 1500? I'd say that is a good deal!

Looks just like my dad's old 1.8i - funnily enough those poverty spec UK 1.8s are actually really rare!!

Has it been serviced regularly? What are the miles?

Just make sure the sill drain holes aren't blocked, and give it an oil and cambelt change and you're away! thumbup

I paid 1500 for kermit a year ago smile
i would get those rear sills sorted properly before more rot takes over , the repair panels can be bought from mx5 parts , but i would do that before nailing any chrome to the poor thing hehe

also wellcome to the toastrack club hehe

I think one of the best things you could do would be adding a Larini Systems exhaust for a bit of added aural pleasure.

haha! ''toastrack'' I know most people scoff at them, but i quite like it!
Yeah, it's been serviced regularly, my friend is a bit of a petrolhead so has looked after it well.
Would be nice to take it to a meet as soon as i get it to chat to people in the know, and for someone to cast their eye over it to see what things i could change/mod/add.

Hmm i'm not sure, i saw the car last year and it was agreed i'd have first refusal, since then i havent really thought about it. Have been too preoccupied with saving money/looking at houses etc. I have a feeling though its electric windows, and more importantly is leak free!

aww bugger, i'm in a bit of a quandary. It turns out that they probably don't want my golf now as there are lower milaged, cheaper cars near them. Also they reckon the MX5 is worth 1800 (which it is). Although i'd set my limit at 1500, then it would mean only being out of pocket 1000 with the exchange of cars.

It's taken me so long to save money and fill my ISA, and i just dont think i can justify spending out 1800 AND having 2 barely used cars on the drive. I use a works van during the week, and my dad borrows the golf just to get to the golf course when mum is at work. I'm buying a house in a couple of months too.

If we didn't have the golf it would be an easier decision. I could still sell it privately, but i'd still be paying out more than planned for the MX5
WAAAAAHHHHHHH bangheadheadache
