Fault Code 18 Fuel Qunatity Adjuster?

My MK1 Eunos is giving me problems cold starting and then is underpowered at lower rev's.
I have replaced many perts i.e lamda probe,leads,plugs and airflow meter.
I called out a mobile diagnostics fella yesterday who managed to pull Code 18 out of it, had others check for codes previous but none came to light.
Anyhow I'm being told horror stories now about possible crank probs connected with this code!!!
can anyone shed any light on this before I have to part with many sheckles with a specialist?

The only crank problems I know of are the short nose problem. Which only affects 1989 - 1990 engines. What age is your car?
