Hi,

Does anybody here have any experience of putting a door back together, in particular refitting all of the electric window/central locking gubbins? If so, how difficult is it?

The reason I ask is that one of the lesser members of society decided I might like a trainer shaped dent in the door of my otherwise immaculate MX-5.

I took it to a trusted bodyshop but they said whilst they can get the dent out the small crease at the top of the weather strip would be difficult to make perfect, but I'm a perfectionist. They also said the labour involved would probably be more than me buying a new door.

So, the theory is that I can buy the door and assemble it then they can paint it - unless of course it's a terrible task that is best left to my garage.

Thanks,

Matt.

Okay, I'm going to refine the above.

It looks like I can get a built door for £40, which seems to be the best way to go.

So, if it doesn't have the electric window trickery already in (I'm hoping it will do) how difficult is that to fit?

And my doors have electric mirrors, I guess the new door won't, so how easy is it to swap an electric mirror onto a door?

Any advice appreciated as always,

Matt.

Hi matt

They are fairly simple to take apart and fit back together , i had to strip mine down a while back , heres some info on it

The loom in the door passes through the gromet from the a pillar so just unplug everything in the door and disconnect the gromet and pull everything out and push it back in on the new door and reseal the gromet
