Please could you tell me what a L S I-conversion is,
is it better than a turbo?.
My car is a 2000 MX5 1.8s with 26,000 miles on her
and i would quite like to make her a tad faster.

Cheer,
Cliff.

Yes. Turbo or super-charger. Which you go for depends on what you want from it, power goals, driving style, personal taste with regards the sound etc. Money does comes into it to a certain extent but you can easily spend £1500-£4000 or more on either.

Its a case of drive a car with both types of FI and see which one suits you , i would love to drop the CDTi diesel lump out of my vectra into the mazda for lazy power , ive got a spare engine to drop in so im going to try and tune up the original but stay NA

Just for reference, the LS1 is the small block Chevy (third-gen - sorry bit of an anorak!) - it's an all alloy power plant fitted to the C5 Corvette from 1997 -2005 (and a lot of cars/trucks) - V8 5.7l with power from 345 hp to 375 (I think) - super engine but I expect it is quite a squeeze and load of work into an MX engine bay.

Have a look on clubroadster.net, theres a current LS1 project ongoing. It was purchased as a kit, and apparently requires very little fabrication. smile
