Reputable MX5 Mechanic in North West?
Discussion
Hi All,
Just picked up my first MX5 yesterday.
Timing belt is overdue. Does anyone know of a half decent specialist in the North West. I am just north of Liverpool but don't mind travelling to the right guy.
Was quoted £180 by the local Mazda dealer, is that heavy/bargain/spot on?
Cheers.

Is that a belt and full service or just a belt?
If it's belt and full service then that's a great price.
Paul Sheard in Cheshire are an MX-5 specialist that I've heard good things about.
I used Sam Goodwin in Nuneaton to do my belts etc and they were excellent (although I live in Lancashire I travel a lot so tied it in with an appointment).
More recently I've been using Blackpool Mazda who advertise as an MX-5 specialist and are indeed very good and surprisingly cheap.

Price was just for the belt, said allow possibly another £40 for pulleys etc. if they need doing as well. The dealer does Ford, Mazda and Mitsubishi and was just chatting with the service manager while my (company) Ford was being serviced

That doesn't sound cheap then, and the pulleys should be done at the same time - it's a no brainer for the price of the pulleys and gives peace of mind for the next 60000 miles.Price was just for the belt, said allow possibly another £40 for pulleys etc. if they need doing as well. Sounds a bit expensive considering MX5Parts are doing a full parts kit for £40 at the momentMX-5 Lazza said:
