Wet roads + MX5 = a whole lot of fun
Discussion
Just wanted to say what a hoot I'm having in the Spazda in this wet weather. It just makes every journey fun. Did ten miles this morning, didn't break a single speed limit, and arrived at my destination with a big grin on my face.
You can't beat a bit of oversteer, even if you do get some funny looks from other motorists

I wouldn't want anyone to see me sliding the car, and I would want to be able to see that nobody can see me (let alone come into conflict if I get it wrong). I would probably have some favourite roundabouts on lightly trafficed rural roads earmarked for this. That's if I did such things on the public road, which of course I don't.
Agreed. I am always aware that things can easily go wrong. I think that's the beauty of having a car with such low limits of grip, and a friendly chassis that doesn't try and bite you every time the back steps out.
I'm pretty selective about where and when I do it and only do it at low speed so if it went wrong I would be able to stop the car before it hit anything.

I've been looking to buy a mk2 MX5 adn must admit I've been distinctly unimpressed at the handling and lack of grunt to make it any fun. I was probably expecting too much.
However, these test drives were in the dry, and I've since taken one out in the wet. Immense fun! And very safe from what I could tell. There's me chatting to the dealer alongside me as I'm testing how the backend comes out on roudabouts. It's very nice and progressive and very easy to control and feel (say, compared to owning a S14a 2hundy)
I think you'd have to be a d!ck to lose control of one of these.
Still, I'm looking at getting a 2hundy. I couldn't handle the lack of grunt in an MX5 but I imagine it would be great fun on a track.
