My '94 1.8 roadster seems to be drinking more fuel than usual. Just on about 100K, and otherwise is running as good as ever.

Any ideas what would cause this (some kind of blocked/dirty sensor causing over-fuelling?)?

Cheers.

Change the lambda sensor mate, it makes a considerable difference and you can get a pattern one for around £25.

how long have you had it? cars will always exhibit poorer fuel consumption when the weather gets colder for the same usage - could be as simple as that.

You could try checking the ECU fault codes.

This is a good reference:

It should tell you if you've got a dodgy sensor somewhere.
Usually best to reset it, then drive for a few days and check again - sometimes you'll get fault codes coming up after you've done some work on the car (I had a bunch of sensor codes flash up after I did the clutch - I assume the ECU sensed they were disconnected when I was doing the work).
