Recommendations for cleaning rear screen

Does anyone have any recommendations on the best way to clean the rear plastic screen? I'm reluctant to try any cleaning type product, in case it causes issues with the plastic or the hood.

I've tried with plain clean warm water and a new cleaning rag, but after a day or so (after some rain), it's impossible to see out of.

Thanks for any tips or advice.

Well, Al, firstly, 62 million years must have caused some deterioration on the old eyesight

Secondly - cheers for the heads-up on Renovo. I'll follow that one up

I guess, as a follow-on question - would Rain-X benefit in any way? (Once I've given it a good clean).

Well used that on my 5 well it was OK when I first applied it, the problem I found was when it started to age it just left the screen all smeary and sort of greasy. Never used it again.

The Westie is up for sale, I have a 3 series convertible now, and plan to build a Westie with Fer-Jr when I get my garage back.

Back on topic, I had been told about the Beemer product too, was recommended for my barchetta.

I had a Mk1 with plastic rear window for 8 years and only ever used Auto-Glym Extra Gloss Protection on it. It's not an obvious choice but it is very slightly abrasive so polishes out minor scratches stopping the screen going cloudy. If you use it regularly it also removes or at least reduces bigger scratches too.
It has the added advantage of leaving a layer of wax on the screen which repels water and keeps it looking clean for longer and if you use it on the inside it stops it misting up.

Do you have a screen protector? If not, get yourself one asap! It reduces the amount of scratches on the screen when the top is down.

oi! Its not me - my 944 had a nice glass screen with a washer jet so I could see you Honda types behind me where you belonged

I don't have a plastic screen myself but some people recommend Brasso.

I popped into Halfords to see if I could pick up some Renovo - but they don't stock it - so I'm going for the BMW solution. I'll pick some up Monday, so I'll let you know how I get on.

Oops - edited my previous post - I meant AutoGlym Super Resin polish

Honestly - Give it a go, you'll be amazed. I tried a number of plastic polishes including the BMW one but AG SRP beats them all
