Any tips for buying an auto Eunos?

The Mrs quite fancies an MX5, but it's got to be an auto.

Anyone got any tips for importers or specialists, things to look for when buying?

Budget is pretty low, I'm thinking £2.5-3k tops.

Cheers!

Autos are pretty unloved and generally seem to be much cheaper. Misses the point of the MX-5 ethos IMHO, but would still make for a fun cruiser smile

AS ford part own mazda , the mk3 mx5 should have the 5 pot lump in it with a powershift gearbox designed for rwd scratchchin that would be fun , auto mx5 came about because of traffic in japan you are stop start pretty much all of the time hence why most imports are autos , shoguns and the like , without trying it i reckon the mazda could be fun , im sure a turbo or super carger will liven it up smile

I know a few people with auto Mk1's and they are all very happy with them. They are biased towards sporty driving so aren't over-eager to change up through the gears. They also have the advantage of a low compression engine which is absolutely ideal for FI and a very strong auto-box that can handle as much power as you can throw at it. An auto would suit a big-power supercharger yes

Just bought one, love it,does 90percent everything a manual one does.

Good hold button, keeps it in gear.

Everyones too keen to slag them off imho.

Also they are less likely to have been abused.

Cheers - it has to be an auto for a reason (I know, auto sports car - urgh!), and it needs to be fairly cheap.

Sounds like a winner then.
