Can anyone see the irony :
Competent in Flintshire/Denbighshire/Wrexham or Cheshire ?
That's a FREE bump for you.
Yeah.......thanks for that - anyone else that actually knows about FI and has a life?Competent in Flintshire/Denbighshire/Wrexham or Cheshire ?

It's amazing how helpful people on this site can be when you're pleasant.
I don't actually get the "irony" comment - maybe I'm just being a bit slow.
I don't have any suggestions for you in those areas but I can whole-heartedly recommend Performance5. I know they are a long way from you but I know that there are people much further away than you who use them as they are simply the best MX-5 Performance people in the country (Including David MT who had a 315bhp turbo-nutter Mk2.5, all done by Phil who lives in York).
There are quite a few other people in the North who use Phil - take a look on MX-5 Nuts (the best forum for MX-5ers, especially those into modding) - most of the people on there who have modified cars use Phil too.

You could always try Paul Sheard Autos - that's a bit closer to you than P5! A lot of the Northern MX5-Nutzers use him.

Yeh you say that Steve, but you're surrounded by plenty of handy lads down your kneck of the woods...........would you trust your kids with just any sitter????
Remember, if ya aint first............yer last!
I fit everything myself as its easy, I was horrifed at mechanics wanting £500 fitting fee. On my garage floor with the jack that came with the car and the normal home tool kit I fit my suspension, turbo kit etc etc. Horrifies me when mechanic say "x hours" £""" that'll be. I tend to find at home without all the tools, lifts etc they have most of the estimated times can be cut in half (assuming I have the time to dedicate myself), you also know when you've done the work its been done properly. But a straight turbo fit, is a really simple job any one you trust should be able to do it no issues, you don't need a specialist, just any competant mechanic/ fitter.Remember, if ya aint first............yer last!

The difference comes when something goes wrong. Phil has gone a long way out of his way to help me in the past, even on jobs I've done myself. He's sent me spare parts and tools (I have a Greddy MAP sensor he sent me that I need to send back to him) and even when I had my e-manage fitted by someone else (effectively a competitor) he was happy to give him advice over the phone to get some wiring problems resolved.
No he isn't the cheapest but you pay good money to get support like that - not everyone is as confident or comfortable working on their own car.

I'd go along with that. I've done some really dumb things in the past. You read the manual, you bend your arm around the engine and into a tiny gap out of sight to find the described nut, you start to twist the ring spanner to undo it and it snaps off.... Now you have an exhaust manifold stud 1/2 in teh block and 1/2 in a nut on the floor. Let the swearing commence. (This was an MR2 and therefore a total b'hitch to work on compared to the MX5, but it makes the point...)Munter said:
Theres Maztek? in Telford. Gets VERY good recomendations from the owners club. Can be busy though.
Maztek 01952 244266 I think.
Yeah, give Richard at Maztek a call. He's busy and doesn't like timewasters but he's bloody good.Maztek 01952 244266 I think.
He's not around next week though. Oh, and if he gives you advice, listen to it! He gets really fed up of telling people the facts who then ignore him and come back later for him to pick up the pieces! He's not into ripping you off, so if he says to do something best to listen to him.
