Hmm we have some unknown brand of Korean origin on all round on the Mazda. Need to put something on all 4 corners that doesn't give you a heart attack when it lets go in the wet.

Any suggestions on a decent brand, I don't need hard wearing tyres as the OH only pootles to work and back about 10 miles a day.

Toyo's T1-R is an excellent tyre, I echo another owners point that it almost grips too much when you want some fun. Mine have been impeccable in the wet as well.

Seems the T1-R has been superceeded by the Proxes-4, which is on special offer and supposed to be better. My local tyre guy is doing these for £42 fitted.

Looking at the Toyo website it looks like the Proxes-4 IS a new high performance tyre but NOT a replacement for the T1R.
It doesn't say anything on the website about recommended fitment but I'd guess that the Proxes-4 is intended for bigger heavier cars whereas the T1S & T1R are intended for small cars like the MX-5.

Personally I prefer the Goodyear F1 GSD3 which has better wet & dry performance and stiffer sidewalls for improved steering response. I don't like the T1S/T1R as the sidewalls are too soft which spoils steering response & speed of turn-in but others like them because they give a good ride.

I saw the Goodyears at a good price £43 delivered, I had them on my 530d and thought they were a good tyre. Hmmm.
