Oil Pressure

I expect this has been answered before but here I go , our 5's oil gauge sits between 0-2 after shes had a run and rises when we are on the move does this sound right ?

Not sure about later cars but on the later cars, but on the Mk 1 cars, the oil pressure gauge is more of an ornament than a reliable indicator of true oil pressure.

yep my oil guage is useless , looks good when my car stays stable no matter if its revving or ticking over

there are 2 types of oil pressure guage on the mk1 (dont know about the others). one is useless, the other is fairly reliable. in my car cold idle is about 3 on the guage, warm idle is bang on 2. when you increase the revs the oil pressure will increase.

Up to '94 the Mx5/Roadster got the "real deal" oil pressure gauge. I.E. it will sit constant when idling, but move around when accelerating/decelerating. Post '94 they got the dummy gauge which sits in the middle when you have pressure no matter what you do with the loud pedal.

At idle mine sat between 1.8 and 2 once warmed
