after months of lurking and reading up I decided that my next 'weekend warrior' should be an MX-5 so off i went....

Its a 1990 roadster, not exactly in its first flush of youth but not half bad for a 17 year old motor. Some fancy alloys, new roof,,K&N filter, KYB adjustable suspension and some damned lousy exhaust. The exhaust has 5zigen on the silencer but i can't find any trace of this firm on t'internet...anyone??

all in all its a damned fine piece of kit for what i paid and now I know why there so popular!

thanks for that. unfortunately not shiny as some eejit decided to paint part of it red!rolleyes...and iwould beg to differ with their description of 'a modest sound'or put another way i dont want to hear a loud one!.

noise aside it does seem to do the job

yeah 5zigen are definitely a 'pukka' japanese firm:
http://www.5zigen.co.jp/

here is US site:
http://www.5zigenusa.com/

most of these 'ricer' systems are way to loud for the street and definitely too loud for a lot of trackdays i believe...

if the exhaust starts to do your nut in, i'd be prepared to take it off your hands wink

Have you had a look under the car too see if the rest of the exhaust is after market too yet?
If it's that noisy it's quite possible you will have a cat-replacement pipe and after market mid pipe. You might even be lucky enough to have an after market header too smile
