Hi guys, does anyone else have the classic windblocker? Got mine from MX5 Parts - it seems to work fine from the shoulders down but the barnet is still getting severe abuse, even at slow cruising speeds (i.e. 30 mph).

There is scope for me to turn the brackets upwards so the blocker is higher but I don't know whether this will help as it feels like the wind is coming from the front of the car and straight down onto my nut!

To be fair, I was on the motorway doing 70mph so can't expect it to cope with that (although the cockpit was very quiet). I just felt like it had absolutely no impact on hair-protection - not a terrible thing when my hair is short but it grows fast!

Any thoughts welcome.

They only really work with both windows up. Did you have your windows up or down?
I used to have the Oris Windstop which is slightly more effective but also more expensive. I found that with the windows up could drive at any speed and not get much buffeting except a little bit on the top of my head (I'm 6ft).

Yeah, I had both windows up. I am about 5ft 11" but was getting it really blustery on my head. I will adjust the brackets after work and see if it makes a difference on the way home.

Big girls.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Top down, windows down, and no wind blocker at any number of leptons.

And bald as a coot per chance?

I'm as bald as a coot but still like to have a bit of comfort in the cabin!
On back roads I'll have the windows down but there is no fun to be had in a motorway journey so windows & wind-blocker up makes things more bearable.

Nope, a full head of hair and 6'1" so my head gets fairly exposed.

A windscreen is a luxury for me after years of experience without one. I'm quite fond of the cockatoo hairstyle too!

I've got a classic windblocker too, and as other pointed out, it really only works best with both windows up, but at 70mph, you're still gonna get a fair amount of buffeting...but still far less than without it! It really works best at sub-50mph speeds I'd say.

Incidentally, I don't know if anyone else has noticed this: if you don't have a windblocker, or don't have yours attached to the car, at non-motorway speeds, if you drive with the roof down, passenger window up and driver's window down, there is a slight reduction of wind buffeting.

that is definitley true. been documented a number of times on most of the forums. i think the optimum is apparently to have the drivers window up about 6 inches
