Proof today that my Maz needs a new roof (I knew it was coming but was hoping that I could at least wait until the summer was over!) - phonecall from the missus: "I have got wet legs!". Oh dear.

So first question, where is best value for money to go to get a new roof (bearing in mind I live in Luton)?

Second question: I should get the keys to my new garage tonight - good idea to park her in and leave the doors/windows open to allow any moisture to dry?

This time of year yes.

Not so good in winter as it concentrates the salt and intensifies salt-corrosion. Sometimes cars that are used all year round and stored in a garage suffer worse rust than a car that's left outside.

So best bet to store her in the garage in the winter BUT only after a good wipe down with an old towel??? Thanks for the info - I still think it is a good investment, if only to keep her secure overnight.

I want an Elise!

When I got home last night, it was sunny, and the roof was in the proper position. Park up next to house, pop inside for 10 mins before the monthly trip to Tesco's, then come back out to find that it's quietly started lobbing it down !

One soggy motor car ! Bit of a wipe down, and a drive with the heater on soon fixed things though !

If you leave the doors open, turn the interior lights off, or you will have a flat battery.
Best answer is a garage with a dehumidifier, summer or winter.

If you soak the interior of your 5 , make sure you dont have a massive puddle in the passengers foot well , ECU lives at the front behind a metal cover , if its just had a quick wash , roof up windows closed recirc on and air con flat out , works as a dehumidifer and drys the interior
