Hi guys, the new car came with a CD player but it does not fit (long story). However, the original unit was missing and therefore I am driving long distances with just my thoughts and no music (except the exhaust of courselick). Any ideas where I can source one as I can't afford to get a new CD player.

Alternatively, anyone know how much it would be to get someone to fit the CD player (I think there is a bit missing that should hold it in).

why not just fit a 'normal' unit + one of these?

Raify - I have a cubby hole in there already. All I am missing is the normal unit which did not come with the car. I only have the face-off CD player which won't stay on car. So it is the normal unit that I am after. Cheers!

Ah, I see. Try Dandy Cars, or that place in Hampshire whose name escapes me for the moment.....

Thanks - Dandy Cars don't have anything in stock but I will email them to let them know I am on the look out.

I think you need a cage (for the CD player to fit into) - I'd do a search on ebay or similar.

Do you mean the double din tape jobby from Japan. I have one but can only pick up a couple of radio stations.

Yours if you want it

If you do fit a Jap spec double din unit, you can pick up the full EU FM band with one of these

A cage being the big metal box that slides into the space? Sorry, not very technical am I. I am pretty sure that I have one of those - I took it out the other day to try and get better access to fit the CD player I have (no joy - it would not clip on the left hand side).

Here is a picture of the interior if it helps identify what I have or have not got. The previous owner had a CD player (which he kept) that did fit so I am at a loss as to why the one he gave me does not fit:

As for what I am after, I guess what ever would have originally come with the car - Jap radio I suppose. If it only gets me a couple of stations it might be worth trying to find a cheap second hand CD player on Ebay.

If it's just a single DIN cage for a standard size stereo you cen get them very cheaply from Halfords or just about any car stereo outlet.
