My passenger side (electric) window is rather slow, can anyone suggest things to do/investigate to improve this?

Best place to look is Miata.net. There are a few bits on there about it. The two things to try are to clean the contacts on the switches and to grease the runners in the doors. If you're stripping down the door to grease the runners, you might also want to consider replacing the cable and idlers as they are known failure points.

Remember when you're lubricating it - lithium grease is for the metal channels that the winder mechanisms run up and down in, silicone grease for the rubber window channels. If you lubricate the window channels with lithium grease they'll swell and screw everything up.

Re-greasing everything made a small difference to my windows, but replacing the cables was much more effective.

miata.net has loads of ideas. Greasing/cleaning helps a lot like people have said. I actually re-wired mine and that made a good difference. I think the old cable was a little under weight and was probably breaking down with all that door opening and closing action.
