Right, how do I test the longevity in my clutch? I am off on a 3,000 mile trip in a couple of weeks so don't want any problems.

At times the engine feels as if it "lags" when dropping a cog and pressing on????? maybe I am just not used to a 1.6?

Yep, Dandy cars have confirmed I need a new clutch and slave cyl!

It will be an expensive one:

clutch;
clutch slave;
all belts;
air-con re-gas;
oil change;
fit de-cat pipe....

Won't have much change out of £1K I think.
