Noisy Sports Exhaust

Folks,
I had my Mx5 turbo'd a while back - and the folks at mx5mad suggested that I swap the exhaust for a sports one with a decat pipe to decrease back pressure and allow the turbo to spool up quicker.
The conversion is wicked, but the only thing it that it's really loud!
I'm wondering if I swap the decat pipe for a hi flow cat (am guessing that this would quieten things down a little) - would it really kill my turbo performance?
