BORING AND LAME. Nothing but a pointless special edition to flag waning public interest.
What the MX5 really needs if you want to get people interested again is the RENESIS Rotary engine and/or the 2.3L turbocharger MZR engine from the Mazda MPS models. The Mazda MX5 MPS.
Come on you cardigan wearing tightwads over in Mazda HQ, something like that would really crap all over an S2000 and even give Boxster and Z4 owners a damn good scare.
With a turbocharged version you could even run a funny ad campaign poking fun at the MX5's hairdresser image saying it now includes a free hairdryer for the engine.
