Im actually about 6'2" and 1/2. Anyway i went to a mazda garage today to see if i could fit comfortably. They only had a MK2.5 in stock so i tried that. Verdict was a no, i fit ok but i wouldn't say i fit comfortably.

My head was touching cloth, put it that way and the bars in the roof could make for uncomfortable driving. Shame, Anyway I've heard the MK1 is more roomy is that correct?

Im obviously tall, long legged rather than long bodies i think.

Next i will have to try a MK1, might be abit harder to find one at a garage tho.

Any tall MX-5'vers have any good advice?

Thanks

I'm 6'4" and also long legged rather than long bodied. Although I've never been in a mk2 / 2.5 so can't comment on any difference in "roominess", I currently own two mk1s, one of which I use as my daily driver.

I found that I didn't fit comfortably in the cars at all, but loved driving them enough to suffer. That was until someone suggested removing the seat and cutting some of the foam out of the base. This I did and found that not only did my head no longer touch the hood, the seats provided a lot more lateral support.

I'd also suggest removing the door pull / armrest from the door and replacing it with a strap. Removing the sun visor would probably be a help too.

Combover here.
Had a Mk2 and a Mk1. First thing I noticed was the Mk1 is significantly roomier inside. Try one.

my mates 6,4" and 118 kilos and has a mark 1 that he runs a lot, biggest prob he had was the steering wheel. the std one was so big it stopped him being able to get opposite lock on quickly when sideways.

On the subject of steering wheels - the first car I test-drove didn't have PAS and I had a hard job fitting under the steering wheel and actually steering the car. Cars with PAS have a smaller diameter steering wheel and so have more knee space.

the mk1 has the lowest seats, and they come in a couple of different heights. the mk2 seats were taller, and the mk2.5 seats were concidderably higher yet again. all seats fit all cars, and although the mk2.5's are the best to sit it, there not fitted into mk1's as there no good for tall people. they do offer about 40mm more shoulder width though, and slightly larger shoulder bolsters, so i hear.
