mx-5 insurance

hi, im new to this site but have been in love with mx-5's for a while,i know that i'm only 14 but i have decided that i will get one when i get my lisence in a 3 years, and i would like to have my car ready for then.
the trouble is....... insurance, i cant find out what groups the different mx-5 models are. I'm now deciding on what model i shall get but need to know this, please if any of you know it could you tell me.

speaking as a now 21 year old with 3 years no claims bonus, i would be surprised if you could find a reasonable quote for anything other than a cheap 1.6

when i come to getting new insurance for my car i am expecting to be paying £600ish for third party (at 21 and with 4 years ncb)

if you really really want an mx5 for your first car at 17 you will have to start saving now or have very kind parents. for a £2k 1.6 i would expect you to have to pay probably very nearly £2k on third party insurance for the first year!

but these figures are all just guestimates, and i hope you can prove me wrong, as they are amazing cars.

I would think, if in your name, you would be looking at about £1800-2000 third party.

It gets a little better with age. I got my MX5 a few months ago, age 21, with Zero NCB and i'm paying #600 fully comp...

oh, i guess i am oversetimating what i will be paying soon. if you dont mind me asking, who are you insured with?

More Than. Mine is a UK car so you might pay a few bob more than me.

11 and 12 IIRC.
