wow.. that is a good price.. especially when compared to a harddog bar, that's just the rear section for £300+ !!
anybody have any more info on these?? hardtop/softtop/glass window fitment issues?
there's no rearward bracing which is a bit of a concern though...

I'm sure you could get the rear braces fab'd up relatively easily Piers..
You could always talk to Pad about his I've backed out due to the mild engine malfunction!!!
slinky
hehe.... I can't make my mind up...
there's a group buy on harddog bars on Nutz too.. so could get one of them. Would prefer a proper cage though.
I'll have a chat to Al at the 'Ring, as he sold that cage to Paddy.. so I'll get some first hand info.. he's also apparently getting a custom cage made up.. which all serves to make this an almost impossible decision to arrive at!!

I'm kind of torn about them...
One one hand, all that extra tubing is a lot for you to smack your head on in an impact - and even with padding around it, it'll hurt a lot.
On the other hand, quite a lot of the crash photos on the Hard Dog website show the windscreen almost completely collapsed into the passenger compartment - a potentially even bigger headache that could be avoided with a full cage.
Also there's the insurance problem - the slightest mention of a roll cage seems to put the willies up most insurance companies.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....

Indeed - wife & inlaws keen for me to get a roll bar of some description, and after seeing the photos I'm not averse to the idea. Would want to go for the simplest one for the least effect on hood / visibility / storage, which would seem to be the Hard Bar, which is 215$ in black powdercoat. Don't know how much it would be to import it though... Not sure the 15% discount on the mx5nutx group buy will make it much cheaper...
having recently test fitted a full 6 pointer in our project car (slinky and Piers know all about it) the issues we came up with were how far you could get the seat back but the main one for a road car was the safety aspect of the forward running bar, it rests about 2" from your head and even with padding (which takes up most of the 2"!!!!) it still hurt even when you just "test tapped" your noggin against it, for a car used on the road (only to get to tracks), it was a compromise too far and without a helmet, there was little doubt that you would seriously hurt yourself in all but the most trivial of side impacts, therefore we decided to go for a 4 pointer as it is a lot lighter, almost as rigid, almost as safe and has none of the safety concerns of a 6 pointer.
That said, the 6 pointers do look the bollox.
